Glen Carbon trustees approve police hires, $1.09M sewer project

Glen Carbon trustees approved hiring two additional police officers above the department’s authorized staffing level at their March 24 meeting.

Police Chief Todd Link said one of the department’s two lieutenants is set to retire in late June and will likely begin using benefit time in mid-May. He also said an 11-year veteran officer is currently in the hiring process with a federal agency and could leave with little notice.

Because the hiring process can take 30 to 45 days and field training typically lasts about 14 weeks, Link requested approval to hire two officers in April or early May before the vacancies occur…
