An hours-long standoff at a Murdoch Avenue home in Shrewsbury ended Sunday when police shot a suspect, capping a tense scene that left nearby residents rattled. Officers had spent hours trying to talk things down after learning that someone inside the house had been held at gunpoint. The stalemate finally broke when officers opened fire on the suspect, and crime-scene tape soon wrapped the block as investigators worked into the afternoon.
