St. Louis restaurant chains expand into Edwardsville market

Edwardsville is seeing a surge of St. Louis-based chains moving into the area.

The city prides itself on being a “foodie kind of town,” and restaurants from across the river are taking notice. Several of them have chosen Edwardsville as their first out-of-state location.

Salt + Smoke is aiming for an April opening in Edwardsville, and it has already scheduled a partnership this week with its future neighbors, Narwhal’s Crafted. The Narwhal’s location on North Main Street is a first for multiple reasons: not only is it the first Illinois store, but it’s also the first franchise location. Meanwhile, Clementine’s Creamery’s only Illinois parlor is in Edwardsville…
