White Castle is taking a St. Louis culinary staple national — kind of

ST. LOUIS — Fast-food chain White Castle is debuting a new menu item next week that — to the trained St. Louis eye — looks a lot like toasted ravioli.

The limited-time jalapeno Cravioli, consisting of diced jalapeno peppers and cream cheese in a seasoned cornmeal breading served with green chili aioli, hit White Castle locations across the country on Monday. A five-piece serving goes for $1.99 while a 14-piece serving will set diners back $4.99.

In keeping with a Southwest-inspired theme, the company is also adding a new Chicken Fajita Slider to its menu beginning Monday. The new slider features a crispy chicken patty topped with grilled onions and peppers, jalapeño cheese and green chili aioli.

Depending on region, the Chicken Fajita Slider will cost anywhere from $2.59 to $2.99 through June 14 or while supplies last.
