$5 for the Fight Comedy Night raises $5,600 to help union members in need

The 5th Annual “Dick Kellett $5 for the Fight Comedy Night” raised $5,600 for the $5 for the Fight fund, while honoring local leaders for their contributions to Labor March 21 at CWA Local 6300.

The late Dick Kellett was a fierce fighter for the working men and women of Missouri. His legacy is honored through raising money to help union families that are facing tough times through the “$5 for the Fight” fund, contributions to which are now tax-deductible.

This year’s event honored:

  • David Cook, retired president of UFCW Local 655.
  • Joe Mueller, president of the Tri-County Labor Club and assistant business manager for Painters District Council 58. (Mueller was unable to attend the fundraiser.)
  • David Holmes, president of the St. Louis City Labor Club and retired Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562 organizer/lobbyist.
  • Sheri Gassaway, Labor Tribune Missouri correspondent, who served as the first female officer of the Jefferson County Labor Club.
