St. Louis board moves to stabilize historic school property prior to redevelopment

ST. LOUIS — The city of St. Louis’ Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority has issued a request for bids for stabilization work at the long-vacant Cleveland High School, the latest step in the city’s effort to redevelop the building.

The work is aimed at repairing damage and preventing further deterioration of the roughly 235,000-square-foot building at 4352 Louisiana Ave. in Dutchtown, which has sat vacant for nearly two decades.

Stabilization work will include structural and roof repairs, debris removal and boarding up windows, according to bid documents. Work is expected to begin in July and be complete by the end of September…
