St. Louis County Greek Fest returns this Memorial Day Weekend

Who needs a Euro-Summer when the St. Louis County Greek Fest brings all the best from Greece to Town and Country? Bite into countless traditional Greek dishes, enjoy entertainment from Kyklos folk dance group, unwind to live music courtesy of Ohio-based Greek band George Karros, and even tour the inside of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church to take in the breathtaking iconography imported all the way from Greece.

“It’s a way for us to bring a little slice of Greece here and spread a culture that we’re very proud of,” says festival chairman Greg Simos. According to Simos, Greek Fest—which has been celebrated in its current location since 1982—plays a huge role in uplifting the local Greek community. Not only is it the main fundraiser for Assumption church, but the festival is a way for Greek St. Louisans to celebrate their culture.

“As a first-generation Greek American, for me, [Greek Fest] is a way to continue to spread the culture [of] my parents and many other immigrants that came here from the old country to start a new life—It’s a way for us to keep that going, and a way for us to spread it to the community that we have.”…
