Mother seeks equal graduation honors for dead son

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – A grieving mother is fighting for change after she feels her late son was slighted during high school graduation.

When Amy Morris realized her son’s name would not be called during the Belleville East graduation ceremony on Saturday, she shouted it out herself. The grieving mother was met with applause as she tried to honor her son, Keagan Rex, who died five months ago from complications related to epilepsy.

“He lights up any room he walks into,” Morris said. “He is full of jokes, and laughter and he’s strong and confident and very intelligent and worked hard.”…
