Park rangers will not patrol St. Louis pools amid budget disputes

ST. LOUIS – Park rangers will not provide on-site security when St. Louis outdoor pools open this weekend. The mayor’s office says the decision stems from a budget dispute with the state-controlled police board.

Many outdoor pools in the city of St. Louis are expected to open Saturday. Park rangers, which fall under control of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, are typically available to help maintain order and ensure safety at city-owned pools.
