Top trainer at horse racing park suspended over failed search of parked RV after claims he had banned drugs in vehicle

A TOP horse trainer has been handed a suspension following a failed attempt to search a parked RV as part of a doping investigation.

Jose Silva Jr was the leading trainer at Shakopee, Minnesota’s Canterbury Park in 2025 – but has now been handed a suspension by the venue’s board of stewards.

He was given a notice of violation just a day earlier by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, after an attempt to investigate suspected violations of HISA’s Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Protocol Rules was foiled.

As reported by Paulick Report, the notice of violation read: “A credible witness interviewed by HIWU investigators stated that it was the witness’ belief that there was pitcher plant extract (also known as ‘P Block,’ a Banned Substance Under Rule 3000 Series) in your RV.”…
