Minneapolis police officials say department overspending, use of overtime ‘inexcusable’

After previously declining to do so at the direction of Mayor Jacob Frey, Minneapolis police officials spoke publicly – and candidly – Monday about the department’s overspending due to overtime.

Interim Police Chief Bill Peterson promised to answer questions “in the most comprehensive, transparent and clear manner possible” ahead of the department’s presentation before the Minneapolis Budget Committee.
