Fatal crash involves Princeton truck driver

A Princeton man was involved in a crash that killed one person on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

A woman from Ramsey was killed in the crash after her vehicle collided with a semi-truck.

At approximately 11:25 a.m., Michael Campbell, 54, of Coon Rapids, was traveling northbound in the right lane of Highway 169 at Hayden Lake Road in Champlin in a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado. At the same time, Gena Zepeda, 55, of Ramsey, was also traveling northbound in the left lane in a 2017 Toyota RAV4, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

The Chevrolet swerved into the left lane where it hit the Toyota, causing it to flip and collide with a 2020 Freightliner Penske Truck that was stopped at a red turn signal waiting to turn left and driven by Cyrus Papenfuss, 25, of Princeton, the State Patrol reported.

According to the State Patrol, Zepeda was killed due to her injuries. Campbell and Papenfuss were uninjured. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the crash.

Campbell and Papenfuss were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, but it is unknown if Zepeda was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol reported.
