Minneapolis will soon be home to Càphin Minneapolis, a new Vietnamese coffee shop opening in the Linden Hills neighborhood next month.
Owners Savio and Jenny Nguyen, the husband-and-wife duo behind the popular Càphin coffee truck, are bringing the flavors of Vietnam to a brick-and-mortar café.
The shop, set to open Saturday, February 17 at 4503 France Ave S, will serve Vietnamese coffee made from robusta beans, including the classic egg coffee cà phê trứng.
With a whipped egg yolk and sweetened condensed milk topping, it’s a delicious balance to the strong robusta flavor.
The Nguyens aim to share Vietnamese coffee culture and honor Jenny’s family history. As daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, she sees their business as a bridge between cultures.
The robusta bean originates in Vietnam, where it’s the leading export. By using it in new recipes like ube and pandan lattes, Càphin introduces American palates to this key Vietnamese ingredient.
Beyond coffee, Càphin represents a growing movement to share Vietnamese flavors across the U.S. The Nguyens were inspired by shops in Seattle, where their pop-up coffee truck gained a loyal following.
