Marjorie Taylor Greene, 49, Georgia Rep, Introduces Censure of Ilhan Omar Over Treasonous Statements

During a recent House floor address, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has introduced a resolution seeking the censure of Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN), accusing her of making “treasonous statements.”

The resolution, presented under Clause 2A1 of Rule 9, alleges that Omar’s remarks during an event in Minneapolis on January 27th, 2024, undermine her oath of allegiance to the United States.

According to the resolution, Omar purportedly assured members of the Somali community that the US government would heed their directives, stating, “They will do what we want and nothing else. They must follow our orders, and that is how we will safeguard the interest of Somalia.”

The resolution contends that these statements violate Omar’s oath as a Congress member to defend and protect the United States Constitution.

Quoting George Washington’s farewell address of 1796, the resolution argues that Omar’s actions exemplify the “impostures of pretended patriotism” warned against by the nation’s first president.
