The Dairy Queen located off Highway 41 in Chaska has reopened after being closed for months due to a devastating fire last November.
On November 9th, 2022 around 5am, a fire broke out in the attic of the restaurant and was spotted by a passerby who saw smoke coming from the roof.
The Chaska Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames in 30 minutes, according to their Facebook post. However, the fire had already caused major damage over the couple hours it was burning undetected.
Fire Chief Stephen Kraus said the fire likely started shortly after the last employees left at 11pm the prior night.
The entire ceiling and insulation had to be torn out to stop the fire’s spread. He called it a probable total loss for the building. No foul play is suspected – just an unfortunate accident.
The Reluanch
After months rebuilding, the Chaska DQ announced on Facebook on February 1st that they have finally reopened for business.
To thank the first responders who battled the devastating blaze, DQ hosted the Chaska Police Department as their very first guests. As the department posted: “A HUGE shoutout to the Dairy Queen for the wonderful First Responder event tonight, thanking everyone for the help the night of the fire in November 2022. We are SO happy you are back!”
