Valleyfair is gearing up for the 2024 season by hiring more than 1,600 seasonal workers.
Operators of the amusement park in Shakopee say they’ll have a week-long hiring blitz staring Saturday, Feb. 17 , filling positions that include ride operators, lifeguards, and security.
“We do hire as young as 14 in certain roles,” said Valley Fair PR and Communications Manager Melissa Ferlaak. “Really it is that first job for a lot of kids especially in the southern metro area all the way up to college students who come back who probably started as a high school associate.”
Pay ranges from $17-20 an hour based on experience, prior service, and position.
Training is provided on-site, ahead of the parking opening on May 12th.
“That includes lifeguards,” Ferlaak said. “Some people might think they need experience as a lifeguard, but we do all that training and get that licensure. We hire now and bring people into train so that when we open, people feel really comfortable.”
Valley Fair is coming off a strong 2023 season with several seasonal events including the return of Corn Fest . While smoke from Canadian wildfires kept some people away throughout the summer, there were still warm days when the park, including the water park, was full.
