Recently the Coyotes have struggled to string together a full 60 minutes of hockey and Wednesday night was more of the same.

Arizona played an up and down first period, but in familiar fashion ended up trailing 1-0 by the end of those 20 minutes.

While the Coyotes had a bit of a slow start to the second period, they really started to find their legs through the latter half and were possessing the puck well while generating some high-end scoring opportunities.

However, Nick Schmaltz’s overturned goal and Jonas Brodin’s goal with 20 seconds remaining all but decimated all of that newfound momentum.

Logan Cooley scored his seventh goal of the season in the third period which gave Arizona a little bit of life, but they were unable to capitalize on it, leading to yet another loss.

A big theme of this game was penalties as the Coyotes went to the box five times which continues to be a recurring issue for the team. Coach André Tourigny feels that it was just one of those nights when it came to penalties.
