Even though the team didn’t have the day they wanted as a whole, Osseo senior Quinlan Rundquist is getting to end his high school cross country career with one final trip to the state meet.
Eight teams gathered at Anoka High School on Oct. 24 for the Section 5AAA Cross Country Championships. Osseo was one of the eight schools.
They had good times but the boys’ team fell a bit short of their pursuit of another team berth at the state tournament like they pulled off a year ago. With 105 points, the Orioles finished in fifth. Mounds View (39) were the section champs and Roseville (64) was the team runner-up.
“We were looking to make as strong of a push as we could for the second team qualifying position, but we fell short on that goal. We posted some great times, but our placing was not strong enough,” stated Coach John Rundquist.
In cross country, the top two teams qualify for the state meet. The top six individual runners not on the top two teams also qualify.
Quinlan Rundquist (16:14) finished in ninth and will be running in the Class 3A state meet on Saturday. Five runners that finished ahead of him were on Mounds View of Roseville so Quinlan Rundquist was the fourth runner to qualify.
