Charges are now filed against a Washington County sheriff’s deputy believed to have been drunk when he caused a head-on crash last weekend.
58-year-old Campbell Blair of Hastings was driving near Afton Sunday morning when investigators say he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming SUV.
Blair and the Lake Elmo family with five children in the car received minor injuries. Blair was off-duty but still wearing his deputy’s uniform and had his pistol in the passenger seat according to the charges.
His blood-alcohol level was 0.92 which is above the state’s legal limit.
Blair reportedly claimed he was called in to work, but Sheriff’s Department officials say that was not the case. He has been placed on administrative leave.
