Beloved Minnesota Eatery Crowned ‘Oldest Restaurant’ In The Entire State

Minnesota is full of historic restaurants that invite patrons into a dining experience that began well before they were born.

These establishments boast rich history and culture, and remain open due to the delicious food that graces their menus. While there are a handful of Minnesota eateries that have been in business for decades, only one has been open since 1887 and still stands to this day!

According to a list compiled by LoveFood , the most historic restaurant in Minnesota is Neumann’s Bar & Grill in St. Paul. This standout location was located next to a speakeasy in the 1920s and continues to serve American staples like Coney dogs, burgers, and beer.

Here’s what LoveFood had to say about the oldest restaurant in all of Minnesota:

“Saloon vibes abound at Neumann’s Bar & Grill. The place that calls itself Minnesota’s oldest saloon was established by Bill Neumann in 1887, with a view to selling beer to the small but thirsty local community. Neumann’s survived the Prohibition era thanks to a savvily located speakeasy and today is more popular than ever, serving up pitchers of icy beer and daily specials – think burgers, tacos, and Coney dogs – alongside live music and a welcoming atmosphere.”
