Bomb threat shuts down Wells Fargo, other businesses in Lakeville

A bomb threat made to a Lakeville Wells Fargo branch sparked a police and bomb squad response on Friday morning.

The Lakeville Police Department received the threat at around 9 a.m., directed toward the Wells Fargo Bank at 17365 Kenyon Avenue.

After receiving the call, officers evacuated the bank and nearby businesses, and the Bloomington Bomb Squad and MSP Airport Police Department’s bomb detection K-9 were called in to assist with a search of the area.

Officers did a comprehensive sweep, but no suspicious items were found in or near the bank. The area has since been deemed safe, and businesses have been permitted to resume operations.

The investigation into the origin of the threat is still active, and police say there is no ongoing public safety concern.
