If you’re looking to start the new year with a stiff drink, Esquire has suggestions.
The publication has released its list of the 44 best martinis in the United States . Among its vodka- and gin-forward drinks sits one from the Twin Cities. Bucheron , the new French-inspired restaurant in Minneapolis’ Kingfield neighborhood, had its martini make the cut.
“A cold night, a plate of warm foie, a frigid martini — made with Future gin and local vodka,” Joshua David Stein writes for Esquire. “This, for our money, is the best way to [spend] a night in Minneapolis.”
Bucheron shared the recognition on social media and offered a fresh description of its drink. “A combination of gin, vodka and vermouth — the gin is present and the vodka provides a canvas to bolster the other ingredients for a cocktail that is nuanced, delicate and balanced,” the restaurant wrote.
The restaurant first opened its doors in early 2024 and while it isn’t quite a year old yet, it has been piling up accolades quickly. Mpls St. Paul Magazine placed it among its 50 best restaurants in the Twin Cities , and the Star Tribune named it one of its restaurants of the year. It received similar accolades from Artful Living and Time Out as well.
