Minneapolis Braces for Snow and Arctic Temperatures, NWS Warns of Severe Weekend Chill

Residents of Minneapolis and surrounding areas should brace themselves for a mix of seasonal winter weather and an incoming Arctic blast. According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast hints at the possibility of snow and freezing rain starting after 2:00 pm, with the area facing a 40 percent chance of snow later in the evening as well; conditions consistent with the Minnesotan winter experience.

Heading into tonight, there’s the potential for the snow to persist, mainly before 8:00 pm, while the cloud cover contributes to rising temperatures, reaching around 30 degrees by the early morning hours of Thursday. Thursday is looking to remain mostly cloudy with highs nudging just above freezing, then dipping back down as we move into the evening.

As the week progresses, forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate that while Friday sees a slightly warmer high near 38 degrees. The temperatures are set to plummet come the weekend, reaching a low around 7 degrees on Friday night with mostly cloudy skies…
