Oakdale church apologizes for ‘drag queen-free’ e-sign message

Leaders at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Oakdale have apologized after the message “drag-queen free since 1953” was displayed on the church’s electronic sign last week.

The Pioneer Press , which obtained a photo of the sign, first reported on the controversy .

Transfiguration leadership said the message was posted the evening of Friday, Jan. 10 and “made reference to a specific demographic of people in a way that fails to adequately account for the Catholic Church’s teachings on the dignity of the human person.”…
