Minneapolis Braces for Snow Flurries and Chilly Winds, Says NWS

Minneapolis residents can expect a dusting of snow today with the National Weather Service (NWS) predicting “a slight chance of flurries before 11am, then a chance of snow, mainly between 11am and 4pm.” With a 50% chance of precipitation, the city is looking at less than half an inch of snow accumulation during the day, as cloudy skies and a high near 24 degrees envelop the region. A gentle south wind of 5 to 10 mph will accompany the wintry weather, according to information from the NWS posted on their website.

Tonight, the NWS forecasts “a slight chance of flurries before 7pm, then a slight chance of flurries after 4am.” The temperatures are set to hover around the 20-degree mark, while a west southwest wind of 5 to 10 mph ushers in cooler air. Along with the chilly winds, the weather forecast has stated that Saturday will bring with it flurries before noon, making way for partly sunny skies and dropping temperatures throughout the day. While gusts could reach as high as 30 mph.

The weekend will continue to see a mix of sun and clouds with partly cloudy conditions expected Saturday night coupled with lows around 8 degrees. West northwest winds of 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph, are on the agenda as well. The NWS paints Sunday in a brighter light, labeling it “sunny,” with temperatures reaching near 29 degrees and a west southwest wind moving at a brisk pace of 5 to 15 mph…
