How Are You Feeling Mentally? A Barbershop Conversation for Black Men

For generations, the barbershop has been more than just a place for a fresh cut—it’s been a safe space for conversation, community, and support. On February 23, 2025, at 825 Arts in Saint Paul, that tradition continues with “How Are You Feeling Mentally? A Black Men’s Panel”, an event dedicated to open dialogue on mental health and well-being in Black men’s lives.

A Space for Real Conversations

Facilitated by Dr. Kasim Abdurrazzaq, this barbershop-style discussion will bring together community leaders Roosevelt Mansfield, Mack Phillips IV, and Nehemiah Jett to lead an honest and engaging conversation about the unique mental health challenges Black men face. Topics will include:

  • Fronting & Emotional Vulnerability – The pressure to always appear strong, even when struggling
  • Intimacy & Connection – The importance of relationships and emotional well-being
  • Breaking Stigmas – How to create healthier conversations about mental health within the Black community
