A Saint Paul man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide following a fatal collision late last year that left one person dead and another injured.
The complaint alleges that Sanjit Singh, 54, had an alcohol concentration nearly three times the legal limit when he crashed into another vehicle on Shepard Road in the early morning hours of December 29, 2024.
Police responded to the crash around 2:36 a.m. and found two severely damaged vehicles, a Chevrolet Impala and a GMC Sierra. The driver of the Impala was unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Impala sustained minor injuries. Singh was found unconscious inside his GMC Sierra and was transported to Regions Hospital.
A reconstruction of the crash determined that Singh was driving in the wrong direction on Shepard Road, leading to the head-on collision. A subsequent blood test taken at the hospital revealed Singh’s blood alcohol concentration was .230, nearly three times the legal limit of .08…
