USA Today Picks Popular Minnesota Restaurant As One of the “Best Restaurants Of The Year”
Americans spend A LOT of money eating out, at least $300 each month. Next time you feel like “not cooking”, there is a restaurant in Minnesota you should check out. It’s the only one in the state that landed on the elite USA Today 2025 “Best Restaurants of the Year” list.
Owamni by the Sioux Chef, located at 420 S. 1st Street in Minneapolis, has been piling up the awards since it opened a few years ago. One of those is the New York Times list of best restaurants. Sean Sherman of Owamni has also landed on Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2023 list and has won several James Beard awards. Recently, he was also just named a winner of the Elevate Prize Foundation and was on a billboard in Times Square.
Now, Owamni is adding one more award to its list – USA Today’s 2025 “Best Restaurants of the Year” award.
At the downtown Minneapolis restaurant, chef Sean Sherman provides a vision of what modern Indigenous food can be.
