Mayor vetoes Minneapolis City Council’s decision to delay development of George Floyd Square

MINNEAPOLIS — The future of George Floyd Square remains uncertain after Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey moved to veto a decision by the city council to delay development at the site.

The two sides have been locked in conflict with the mayor supporting a “flexible-open” concept and the council choosing instead to pursue a pedestrian plaza that would limit vehicular traffic with exceptions for neighborhood residents and first responders.
