ROCHESTER, Minn. (KEYC) – The Newborn Screening Program at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has begun screening newborns for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and guanidinoacetate methyltransferase (GAMT) deficiency.
MDH says early identification and treatment are crucial to slowing the progression of symptoms, as well as improving the quality of children’s lives.
