Young Minnesota farmer gains national recognition

A fourth generation family farmer who was already named Waseca County’s Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year last year brought some national attention to the area last month as one of the finalists for the national Outstanding Young Farmer award.

Mike Singlestad, who with his family runs and corn and soybean operation and raises hogs just outside of Waseca, was named as one of just 10 Outstanding Young Farmer finalists from across the country, following a rigorous months-long process of evaluation.
