Sheldon, Iowa — A twin cities area man has been arrested on a warrant on felony burglary and theft charges after an incident in 2021 in Sheldon.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 48-year-old Mark Anthony Vaugn of St. Paul, Minnesota is accused of entering the Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) campus and taking cash and a credit card in August of 2021. He was arrested on the warrant on Monday.
In his statement, the officer says a man entered the campus and stole cash and an NCC credit card from secure locations within the campus. The man left NCC when confronted by staff, driving away in a Ford Taurus. NCC has surveillence cameras. He says their investigation indicated Vaugn was the suspect. A search warrant was executed of Vaugn’s apartment. Officers located clothing in Vaugn’s apartment matching the clothing seen in the surveillance video, says the officer.
