Severe storms might not stretch as far north as Minnesota on Friday, but there’s enough of a chance that the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center is monitoring the potential – and Twin Cities officials are comparing the approaching system to a storm that produced the earliest known tornado in Minnesota history.
“Rain and thunderstorms are expected Friday/Friday night. A few storms may be severe, especially in southeastern MN,” says the NWS Twin Cities. “During Saturday, rain will change over to snow as strong winds bring in colder air. Western MN has the best chance for accumulating snow.”
