Growing calls for Pam Bakken to resign after state suspended her at-home daycare license

SOUTH SAINT PAUL, Minn. — During a brief public comment period at Monday night’s South St. Paul city council meeting, more residents called on council member Pam Bakken to resign. This was the second council meeting in which people called on Bakken’s resignation, citing a Minnesota Department of Health investigation that concluded Bakken’s at-home daycare license would be suspended due to an imminent risk of harm to the people served.

The state opened an investigation into Bakken’s at-home daycare business when a child tested positive for methamphetamine after getting picked up from the daycare.

The child’s mother, Victoria Kane, previously told KARE 11 that she does not believe Bakken is being held accountable due to her position as an elected official. “I think she’s holding herself to a higher standard than the rest of the community because of her seat on the city council,” Kane said…
