Minnesota Weather Alert: Up to 13 Inches of Snow and Ice in Cook and Lake Counties Until 7 AM Monday

Duluth, MN – A significant winter storm is blanketing northeastern Minnesota with heavy snow and ice, creating hazardous travel conditions and impacting Monday morning commutes across Cook and Lake counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. CDT Monday, with 4 to 7 inches of snow expected in most areas, and 8 to 13 inches in higher terrain along the North Shore, including cities such as Silver Bay, Grand Marais, and Two Harbors. Ice accumulations around a light glaze are also anticipated.

The storm began early Sunday morning and is expected to intensify overnight with lake effect snow increasing totals along the shoreline. Winds may also reduce visibility, making travel extremely difficult, especially on U.S. Highway 61 and local routes near Lake Superior…
