ICE agents detain University of Minnesota student in Twin Cities

The University of Minnesota says one of its international graduate students has been detained by Immigration Enforcement and Customs (ICE) agents.

An email to students, faculty and staff from president Rebecca Cunningham, vice president for student affairs Calvin Phillips and vice president for equity and diversity, Mercedes Ramírez Fernández, states the arrest happened on Thursday at an off-campus residence.

The student in question hasn’t been identified as of Friday but they were enrolled at the Twin Cities campus at the time of arrest. No reason for the arrest was given, with the university adding that it’s actively working to gather more details…
