Devastating fire: ‘No words describe how grateful we are to everybody’

LAKELAND—In the early morning sub-zero hours of February 7, fire would destroy the Lake Eshquaguma home of Chuck and Lynda Mattson. Their daughter and son-in-law, Dione and Robbie Perpich, had been there “to help out after my mom got cancer, and then broke her hip. She is in remission,” Dione Perpich said in an email interview.

“I have no words to describe the scale of support from the community. From well wishes, money, clothing and household item donations, and shoulders to cry on, the response has been and still is overwhelming. And there are no words to describe how grateful we are to everybody.”

In an effort to support the fire victims, Alayna Zallar and Tina Mattson have organized a fundraiser on behalf of Mahryn Perpich, daughter of Robbie and Dione Perpich. Zallar said, “During this incredibly difficult time, I’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills, living expenses, and anything else they might need. Every penny donated will go directly to the family.”…
