Café Cerés employees start fundraiser with all 4 locations set for abrupt closure

Last week, DDP Restaurant Group announced that it would close all four of its Café Cerés locations months after a supermajority of staff voted to unionize .

The Daniel del Prado -run company plans to close shop on April 13. Now, employees, who say they were on the cusp of securing their first union contract after six months of negotiations, are turning to the community for support.

A fundraiser has been launched to aid employees, which will help employees with rent, utilities, food, and other necessities as they search for work.

The GoFundMe page, organized by Mariam Karkache, claims staff were “about to cross the finish line with a fair contract” when the sudden decision to close was announced…
