St. Paul leading in solving non-fatal shooting cases, new data shows

ST PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry released the department’s latest data on Tuesday detailing the number of non-fatal shootings across the city.

So far this year, there have been eight in the city. That’s compared to 26 this time last year. Chief Henry said one of the biggest difference makers is its dedication to creating a new, non-fatal shooting unit last year.

The idea might sound simple – try to solve every non-fatal shooting as seriously as a homicide. Dedicated resources, like time, officers and funding, though, can be hard to come by…
