Lawyer: Detained U of M student’s DWI now being handled with immigration charge usually reserved for terrorists

ST PAUL, Minn. — At a bond hearing in immigration court at Fort Snelling on Tuesday morning, the attorney for detained U of M international student Dogukan Gunaydin told the judge he now faces a charge that is typically reserved for terrorists.

Attorney Hannah Brown revealed the Department of Homeland Security added a charge Monday from the section of immigration law that covers “endangering public safety or national security.”
