St. Paul’s North End Community Center holds grand opening, seven years in the making

ST PAUL, Minn. — The North End Community Center in St. Paul officially opened its doors Saturday, marking the culmination of a seven-year journey and a $30.9 million investment in the neighborhood. The state-of-the-art facility is poised to become a hub for community engagement and activity, offering amenities that include a kitchen, gym, fitness center, study rooms, and more.

The 25,000-square-foot building is now the most sustainable community center in St. Paul, but the fun is not only on the inside. Outside, nearly six acres of space include a multi-use turf field, badminton courts, a playground, and picnic areas.

Melissa Michener, a six-year resident of the North End, expressed optimism about the center’s impact on the area. “A lot of the conversation is about this being an affordable area for first-time homebuyers, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve investment, we do,” she said. “It really puts us on the map for a destination to come and spend time with.”…
