Beloved Minnesota Eatery Shutting Its Doors Permanently: What You Need to Know

As our country is bracing for even higher costs at the grocery store, some businesses are making the difficult decision to say goodbye to their community. Macy’s, Kohl’s, Joann Fabrics, and Party City are just a few of the stores that have announced closings in 2025. Sadly, those aren’t the only closings that Minnesota is witnessing. Another one was just added to the list.

Another Closure Just Announced in Minnesota for 2025

A few weeks ago, Legacy Toys in Rochester, Minnesota closed suddenly. The same week, a bridal store also decided to start their “store closing” sales in the Med City. Today, a restaurant in Southeast Minnesota has announced that it too will be adding its name to the “Business Closed in 2025” list.

Restaurant In Southeast Minnesota Next To Announce It Is Closing For Good

Opening up social media used to be full of fun posts and hilarious memes. Lately, I seem to be seeing more and more about businesses struggling in the area. Based on the latest post that I saw on Facebook, it appears that a restaurant in Red Wing, Minnesota will be serving its last meal this summer.

Home Plate Grill & The Dugout Lounge, located at 227 Bush Street in Red Wing, Minnesota, shared the following sad news with its fans on Sunday, April 13th:

To Our Valued Guests, As of June 6th, 2025, unfortunately, the time will come for Home Plate Grill & The Dugout Lounge to close its doors indefinitely. This has been a journey we will not soon forget, and we will always reflect on the great times spent with Red Wing and surrounding communities. As you are all aware, times have been tough for the restaurant industry. Especially those that weren’t grounded firmly in place for many years prior to the great pandemic. We absolutely loved being a part of the community and look forward to the next chapter for the next business to take over one of the greatest spaces in one of the greatest buildings in downtown Red Wing. There are a few reasons that brought this decision about, but what it really all boils down to is that it’s simply time to round the bases and hang up the ole hat and glove, so to speak. The decision has been difficult, and we ask the public to remain respectful in all assumptions, thoughts, and ideas as to the reasons for this closure. Our staff has become family over the past 4 years, and we hope their transition to another field will be smooth and without shame in any way. We thank you all for the years of patronage, friendship, and comradery, and we look forward to seeing everyone another time or two before the game night lights go out.
