Twin Cities’ namesake Naval ship involved in $12 million drug busts

The Twin Cities’ namesake Naval ship was recently involved in two drug busts that seized more than $12 million in illegal goods.

The USS Minneapolis Saint-Paul, which is on its maiden deployment in the Caribbean Sea, was recently involved in busting two alleged drug smuggling operations within 72 hours of each other, according to the Minnesota Navy League.

The busts were a result of both air and surface operations.

In total, the busts resulted in the confiscation of around 1,278 pounds of cocaine valued at more than $9.4 million and 2,480 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $2.8 million…
