A routine traffic stop on Lake Street East by the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct has led to the arrest of three individuals on charges related to narcotics and firearms. According to a social media post by the department, officers initiated the stop for a seatbelt violation but ended up seizing more than just traffic citations.
During the stop, officers reportedly observed suspected narcotics in plain view within the vehicle. A subsequent search unearthed further contraband — a backpack replete with suspected narcotics and a firearm stashed in the center console. Two out of the three individuals detained at the scene had histories of prior criminal convictions, the police noted.
The MPD’s post praised the officers for their “proactive policing,” emphasizing the benefits to community safety. “Kudos for MPD officers for proactive policing that helps keep illegal guns and drugs off our streets,” the department’s message conveyed. Among those arrested was the driver, charged with narcotics possession, the front passenger who faced weapons charges, and the rear passenger who was booked on narcotics charges and found with over $1,700 in cash, presumed to be connected to the illegal activities…
