Como Zoo mourns death of baby sloth; baby emperor tamarin is born

ST PAUL, Minn. — A beloved 1-month-old sloth died this week at the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, in the same week a baby emperor tamarin was welcomed into the world.

According to zoo officials, the baby sloth was discovered unresponsive in the sloth habitat on Monday.

“This loss has touched our entire team,” zoo officials posted on social media. “A necropsy will help us better understand the cause, and until then, we are focused on supporting one another and the animals in our care.”…
