Police: 18-year-old shot in the face during group fight at Apple Valley park

An 18-year-old man was shot in the face when a fight broke out among a group at a park in Apple Valley early Saturday morning.

Apple Valley PD says the incident was reported at around 12:40 a.m., with officers sent to the 6800 block of Fortino Street, by Kelley Park, on a report of gunshots.

“According to multiple witnesses, a group was involved in a physical altercation at a nearby park when gunshots were fired,” police said. “The suspects fled the area in multiple vehicles prior to the officers’ arrival.”

Officers found shell casings in “three distinct areas near the park.” While at the scene, they were informed the injured 18-year-old, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the face, had arrived at the police station…
