Ramsey County Sheriff pushes back against DHS after list published of ‘sanctuary jurisdictions defying federal immigration law’

DEVILS LAKE, ND – The lead law enforcement official in Ramsey County is speaking out after his county was listed as a ‘sanctuary jurisdiction defying federal immigration law.’

“Ramsey County is not a Sanctuary Jurisdiction and has no intention of becoming one,” Sheriff Bryan Lang said in a social media post Sunday. “Ramsey County will continue to follow local, state and federal law, and enforce both criminal and immigration laws to the fullest extent.”

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a comprehensive list of sanctuary jurisdictions including cities, counties, and states that are deliberately obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws and endangering American citizens.
