FRIDAY: A 30% chance for showers and thunderstorms continues for today. Severe weather isn’t expected for the bulk of the day with highs in the 60s and 70s.
OVERNIGHT FRIDAY: Confidence is increasing that we’ll see a few severe thunderstorms overnight tonight into early Saturday morning. At this time, all modes of severe weather are looking possible. The particularly concerning part of this threat is that it will happen overnight when most people are sleeping. Make sure to have a couple ways to receive watches and warnings that will wake you up. The best chance for severe weather will be between 9pm and 3am. The best chance for a couple isolated tornadoes will be in the western half of the region before midnight. The best chance for flash flooding will be in northern MN.
SATURDAY: A chance for showers and thunderstorms will linger through the mid-morning hours with dense fog possible in the morning. Otherwise, we’ll see decreasing clouds with highs in the 60s and 70s near the lake with 80s to our south. The heat index in southern counties in our region could reach over 100°F at times. A small chance for a stray severe storm returns later in the afternoon with large hail and strong winds being the main threats.
SUNDAY: The majority of the Northland will see partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the 80s. The heat index throughout the entire Northland may exceed 100°F at times, so it’s important to stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if you have to work outdoors.
