A $30 million lawsuit against the City of Minneapolis filed by several businesses near George Floyd Square has been thrown out by a judge.
Late last year, the owners of Cup Foods and others near 38th and Chicago, the intersection where Floyd was killed by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, claimed in their lawsuit the city failed to address crime in the neighborhood which in turn ruined their business.
That, they say, constitutes an unlawful taking of their property without just compensation. They also added they lost revenue, real estate value, reputation and tenant/rent income…
