Thousands of hospital nurses ratify new contracts in Minnesota

On July 14th, thousands of nurses represented by the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) at hospitals across the Twin Cities metro and in Duluth finished voting today to ratify new contracts. This was after months of negotiations aimed at addressing staffing, patient care, retention, and workplace conditions.

After four months, MNA nurses spoke at the table with hospital leaders to demand accountability and uphold patient safety. The agreements reflect priorities identified by nurses throughout the 2025 campaign, including staffing provisions, workplace safety measures, mental health protections, and fair compensation, as well as fending off significant employer concessions.

The contracts cover thousands of nurses across the following hospital systems: Allina Health, M Health Fairview, Essentia Health, Aspirus St. Luke’s, HealthPartners Methodist, and Children’s Minnesota…
